I Have Done The Stupid Thing

No cookies for Nia today. I’ve gone and made my first rookie mistake on WordPress in a while…. I’ve deleted all of the media from my blog so all of my featured images have disappeared, I thought I was being organised and getting rid of old images clogging up my account.

I can’t bring myself to replace them all but I’m going to go back and sort out at least some of them today!

I did something similar a while back. I used to used some miniature images, but replaced them with bigger ones, so I deleted them out of my media.

I then remembered a few weeks later that the miniature images had also been used on some interviews.

I had to go back over each interview to sort them out.

Hubby has run his own website for a long time. His word of advise was, never delete anything, one thing can do more damage than you realise. I’ve since stuck to his advise.

Hopefully you can sort it out without too much messing around.

Oh boy. I almost did that a few weeks ago to make space. It’s insane how quickly it goes. So I’m now putting bigger pictures like blog tour banners on photobucket and link from there.

Still think you deserve cookies. Or maybe some wine. The images will still be gone but you might not care as much πŸ˜„

Me too!!!!! I was trying to decide what to do because if all went then there was no way I was going to go through it all and put them all back.

Nia I love your idea about Photobucket, I would never have thought of that!!

        I’ve lost about 150 pics… if I didn’t laugh, I’d cry πŸ˜„

Can’t claim credit for the photobucket idea, but I will be stealing it πŸ˜„

Amen! I can’t believe I didn’t think it through, they just vanished!!!

I’ve redone June, debating going back and readding all of them but I’m far too sober for such an endeavour.

Oh no… but hey, here, have a cookie anyway! πŸ˜‰
When I changed my blog theme I realized I need to have featured images in posts so the home page would look proper not this wasteland of no images… and it was a task and a half to get the first 5 pages even sorted… so time consuming… but… now I also link all the book covers via Goodreads rsther than uploading img, etc to media… Good luck with Photobucket… I gotta check out that idea myself πŸ˜‰

      Thank you!
It’s just that ‘oh shit’ moment when the screen flashes and all your hard work disappears….

It’s not the end of the world if I never replace them, but it’ll bug me!

    NOOOOOOO!!!!!!

But how did you managed the featured images? I create them via Canva, so even if I mistakenly delated them, I could still download them again from Canva.
I have tons of pics on my blog, especially because I’ve started using a lot in the last year or so. When I started seeign the blog slowing down, rather than delating pics, I installed a compressors of pics, so that it makes them lighter. Maybe that woudl help, instead of getting rid of them?

And if I may suggest, do save all your content once in a while. The command should be unter tools. It will save everything, so you’ll be able to replace it. It’s the same tool you need to migrate your blog.

I agree with others. You still deserve cookies. Hold in it. This may be an opportunity to revamp the blog πŸ™‚

I make them on PicMonkey then save them to my computer so they all still exist, just not on wordpress.

I’m seeing this as an opportunity- I really do need to sexy up the blog again. Checked it out on my phone and it looks quite dull…. some homework required though!

I need to find out how to save and everything, I didn’t migrate my blog when I bought my domain because I didn’t know how…. started from scratch.
